YCombinator Spring 2025 batch demo day is just around the corner and so far 90+ companies of the 144 companies have changed their description from the initial one they had.

I scroll through the latest YC batch startup directory every now and then to find inspiration for my own projects and discover new opportunities. This is a ritual I'm sure many in tech can relate to.

Three months ago, I decided to build a simple scraper to track the descriptions of companies from YC X25 batch. I vibe-coded a python script, hooked it into my common-use supabase db and built a dashboard to watch for changes. Then I waited.

While most edits are minor wordsmithing, some companies have changed direction entirely. I had openAI's o4-mini model sift through the data and point out the major pivots. Here are some of the interesting ones:

1. From deep-research agents to internal-docs search agent.

3. From social connection finder to deep-research platform
